Kyler & Harlon's Antrim 1844 Wedding

Their love story..

"It was a warm, Thursday night in downtown Frederick; Cellar Door was hosting their weekly karaoke night, and tons of people were piling through the doors. Sitting alone on the corner bench, I glanced over and thought I saw an old teammate from high school club basketball--Antoinette. I hadn't seen her in years and I wanted to say hi, but I couldn't tell if it was her. As I was looking, I realized this guy sitting beside her was looking at me funny because he probably thought I was staring at him, so I decided to ask him if that was Antoinette... He replied, "Yeah, that's my sister." And, after that, I didn't talk to him for the rest of the night! ...But, lucky for us, his friends, Tim and Brandon, decided to adopt me into their friend group for the night (since I was all alone), and they sang karaoke with me and danced until the place shut down. By the end of the night, I had exchanged numbers with Harlon's friends, and we went our separate ways. Flash forward to the next night, and I was out with some of my best friends from high school. We stopped in Wags to grab some drinks, and Tim let me know that he and a friend were on their way to meet up with us! As I was sitting there chatting and laughing with my friends, I turned towards the door, and it was like my whole world slowed down... I locked eyes with Harlon as he walked through the door, and I could feel myself smiling from ear to ear. He was so handsome and tan, with a turquoise polo on and the biggest, brightest smile. From that moment on, he was the only man I saw. We all continued to hang out together that night, and I was--admittedly--pretty tipsy, and I stuck right by Harlon's side the entire time. We may have been surrounded by our friends, but it felt like it was just the two of us. Still, Harlon likes to joke about how he pulled his phone out to grab an old friend's number who was talking to the both of us, but he says that I mistook the gesture and grabbed the phone from him, only to mistype my own number! Like I said, I was pretty tipsy, but I don't remember it going quite like that ;). The next day, though, I joined Harlon and Tim for lunch at Ilforno. As Harlon was talking and telling me more about himself, all I could think was that I wanted to be with this man and that I was going to make him mine somehow--whether he knew it yet or not. Lucky for me, though, he was feeling exactly the same way from the moment we had locked eyes the night before. That moment was so strong that, later Saturday night, Harlon confessed to his brother, Reggie, that he really liked me and just knew there was something really special about me. Since that fateful weekend, Harlon and I have been inseparable! We've been through so many ups and downs along the way, but our love has only grown stronger. Some of the highlights include when we moved in together after just nine, short months of dating. And, later that year, we adopted our first puppy, Bentley! Shortly after that, we rescued another pup named Ranger! Then, fast forward a few more months and, on June 15, 2017, Harlon asked me to be his wife at about 7:30 in the morning on the balcony of my parents' condo overlooking the ocean! We had arrived early that morning around 2 a.m. after a long, treacherous, 10-hour drive, thanks to constant downpours and construction work. Exhausted, we both passed out in the same clothes we drove down in. At about 5 a.m., I heard Harlon's alarm go off, and I thought that was really weird, but I just rolled over and went back to sleep. I woke up around 7:15, and noticed Harlon was already up. So, I went into the living room and told Harlon we should probably go ahead and get the dogs outside and walk them before the beach ordinance began at 10. He quickly agreed and suggested that I let them on the balcony while I got ready. Thinking that was a great idea (and having no clue what was about to happen), I walked over and opened the curtains to find the balcony decorated with our initials, 'H' and 'K', a chalkboard sign that read "forever and always", small stones with the words "love," "faith," and "happiness," little colored gems in my three favorite colors (green, blue and orange), and, in the middle, a clear, glass bottle filled with sand and a note sticking out, with slightly burnt edges. As I opened the note, my eyes welled up with tears as I read the most beautiful, heartfelt message from the man I loved. Then, when I finished reading, I turned around to find him on one knee holding a ring. It was the most beautiful, meaningful, and real proposal. We were both still wearing the same clothes from the day before, and I hadn't even wiped my eyes after waking up, yet there I was, staring at the most gorgeous diamond I'd ever seen. I said YES--and, together, we started on the next chapter in our lives."
